Among youth aged 12–17 in Illinois, the annual average percentage of cigarette use in the past month decreased between 2002–2004 and 2017–2019. During 2017–2019, the annual average prevalence of past-month cigarette use in Illinois was 2.1% (or 21,000), similar to both the regional average (2.7%) and the national average (2.7%).
