  1. Animal licensing is an essential part of animal care and control in our community. License fees support the return of lost dogs and cats to their homes and help adopt homeless dogs and cats to new families.

  4. Effective January 1, 2024, building inspection, plan review, licenses, and permit fees, including the administrative fee, have automatically increased by 2.662727%.

  5. To register your pet, you must submit a current rabies certificate signed by a licensed veterinarian, proof of spay/neuter (if applicable), proof of a registered microchip, and pay the registration fee.

  6. A renewal invoice is mailed 30 to 45 days prior to the expiration date (December 31st). It is the responsibility of the owner or operator to contact BARC Animal Enforcement prior to expiration date if an invoice is not received.

  7. Keep your pet legal. All cats and dogs in unincorporated Harris County over the age of 3-months are required to maintain a pet license through the county. Violations of Harris County animal regulations can result in a citation and fine up to $500.
