Minnesota Geospatial Commons helps users find information and provides the ability to download many datasets in a variety of formats. Searches can be defined and narrowed using metadata and map filters. Users can also find information about web map services or Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and how to connect to them.
This medium-scale (nominally 1:24,000) dataset represents the boundaries of cities, townships, and unorganized territories (CTUs) in Minnesota. The Minnesota Geospatial Information Office created the initial CTU dataset by updating a municipal boundary file maintained by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT).
The Minnesota Geospatial Commons is a collaborative space for users and publishers of Minnesota's geospatial resources. The Commons is used by researchers, cartographers, web and application developers, journalists, planners, and other citizens who need GIS data for a project.
County websites: For help using a county's online information (parcel map, downloadable data) or finding current or historic property records, contact the county directly by checking their webpages for contact info.
MnGeo not only coordinates the State's spatial data, we also create solutions: spatially enabled desktop and mobile apps, geocoding services, and training to teach others how to harness the power of GIS. The Geospatial Commons is a one-stop catalog for Minnesota featuring open data which can be added to your maps and research projects.
