Paper and board has a successful history of safe use in a wide range of food contact applications: these are, for example, tea bags, baking papers, filters, beverage cartons, sacks, packaging for dry and frozen foods, including transport and distribution packaging, and tissue products.
19 Μαΐ 2021 · This guidance document is expected to improve the protection of consumers against contaminants (metals, antioxidants, stabilisers, colorants, plasticisers, etc.) potentially released by materials in contact with food (packaging, containers, plates, cups, straws, baking and filter papers, napkins, etc.).
The document applies to the manufacturing of paper and board suitable for contact with all types of foodstuff and conditions for its use. The document covers the entire production process as outlined in Annex 1.

28 Φεβ 2010 · Yes, you can use clear contact paper. I have used it for years, in fact, I use it over a board that I cover in fabric, then cover with contact paper, and cut away the contact paper which is 'not' under the cake area. See my purse cake in my photos for an example.

A separate resolution on recycled cellulose fibers (GMC Res. 52/99), also being revised, permits the use of recycled paper in contact with solid, dry food, or foods where little migration is expected.
