I recently got into the boot rabbit hole and have somewhat of an understanding of what brands to steer clear of and what to look for. I was thinking of either getting some Solovair Chelsea black dealer boots or Jack Erwin ollie Chelsea boots but am not particularly sure which is better in terms of quality and durability.
8 Μαρ 2022 · With fewer skilled cobblers left in the US and abroad, the trick is finding one who can do the job right, especially when it concerns the high-quality Goodyear welt, etc footwear that we live by here at Stitchdown. You don’t want someone who’s just gonna slap an extra layer of rubber over the worn-out stuff and call it a day.
Thursdays are fine. They’re Goodyear welted so they’re resoleable and they use better leather than you’d find in doc martens or Solovair or timberlands of comparable price. On the other hand they don’t really break in to feeling like slippers the way boots made with leather insoles and/or midsoles do.
For more than 15 years, I've had my shoes and boots taken care of here. If you have good shoes, take them here to get resoled as they wear out and they will have new life. Thanks to them, I have some boots that have lasted 15 years and still look great. I have had a purse and travel bag repaired here too.
