Use a clutch alignment tool to center the clutch disc on the flywheel. If an alignment tool is unavailable, an old clutch shaft from the same type of vehicle may be used. Tighten each pressure plate bolt a little at a time in a crisscross pattern.
CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT – The best method of adjusting a clutch is by measuring the air gap between the clutch disc and/or flywheel with the clutch pedal fully depressed against a stop. CLUTCH TYPE STREET RACING
Friction clutches need adjustment to ensure they slip at the correct torque, after the clutch has been “run in”, to account for wear, and if the clutch needs to slip at a different torque. 7) Use clutch alignment tool to insure disc and cover are properly aligned with pilot bearing. 8) If using an aftermarket scatter shield/bell housing, checking center hole run -out is highly recommended.
