This can be done under ultrasound guidance with minimal anesthesia. Nephrostomy tubes should be exchanged every 4-6 weeks, as they are highly susceptible to encrustation and occlusion in pregnant patients.

30 Σεπ 2013 · Herein, we review the metabolic alterations during pregnancy that may promote kidney stone formation, the complications associated with acute renal colic in the pregnant state, and our proposed diagnostic and management algorithms when dealing with this clinical scenario.
28 Αυγ 2020 · Temporization with nephrostomy tube placement has been successfully used in the pregnant stone patient. To minimize fetal and maternal risk, nephrostomy tube placement may be performed under US guidance with minimal anesthesia, if local interventional radiology availability and expertise allow.
Despite the alarming pain and other symptoms that accompany kidney stones, prompt diagnosis and treatment can remedy this condition and the other complications it brings, allowing pregnant mothers to move forward with a healthy pregnancy.
