The northern coniferous forest of the Subarctic climate, also known as the boreal forest, is dominated by coniferous trees, with hardy deciduous trees like birch mixed in. To the south lies the temperate forest and the north the tundra.
Taiga has a subarctic climate with very large temperature range between seasons. −20 °C (−4 °F) would be a typical winter day temperature and 18 °C (64 °F) an average summer day, but the long, cold winter is the dominant feature.

19 Ιουν 2024 · The tundra biome primarily occurs in the Arctic regions, between 60° to 70° North latitude. It spans the northern parts of North America, Europe, and Asia. Additionally, the Antarctic tundra is on the Antarctic Peninsula and several sub-Antarctic islands.
In the northern boreal forests, the winters are long, cold and dry, while the short summers are moderately warm and moist. In the lower latitudes, precipitation is more evenly distributed throughout the year.
Cold desert climates (BWk) sometimes feature hot and dry summers, though summers typically are not quite as hot as summers in hot desert climates. Unlike hot desert climates, cold desert climates sometimes feature cold winters with marginal snow.
