While there's not an official College-Board AP reading list, there are books that will be more useful for you to read than others as you prepare for the exam. In this article, I'll break down why you need to read books to prepare, how many you should plan on reading, and what you should read—including poetry.

When searching for meaning, we can look at the dictionary meaning of a word, the denotation, as something literal. We can also look at the connotation of a word, the emotions, and images that are evoked upon hearing a word. This can lend itself to a figurative reading.
This Curriculum Module touches upon what is at the heart and soul of AP® English Literature and Composition: reading and understanding literary works. More specifically, it offers suggestions for how to get your students to read more, how to train them to evaluate the artistic quality of what they read and how to explore literature more deeply.
