John Brewer married Elizabeth Rice (1648-1739), daughter of Henry Rice and Elizabeth Moore. [2] They had the following children: Lt John 1669. As a man, John Brewer was described as “slender, but rugged, a mind well balanced and sound rather than aspiring, a countenance sedate rather than brilliant”. In June of 1769, John married Martha Graves of Sudbury and their first child was born a year later on May 1st , 1770 at Worcester .

John Brewer, son of John and Elizabeth (Howard) Brewer, died April 5, 1690. He married, in 1685, Sarah, daughter of Colonel Henry and Sarah Ridgely, the former of whom came from England, and died in 1710.
Colonel John Brewer was the founder of the city of Brewer, Maine. He married Martha Graves of Sudbury,MA, and later, after her death in 1808, was married to Ruth Prescott, a widow, from Augusta. They remained married until she died in 1818.
