The Jefferson County Historical Society Museum is housed in the historic Paddock Mansion in downtown Watertown, New York. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, it was formerly the home of local banker Edwin L. Paddock and his wife, Olive (Wheeler).
The Jefferson County Historical Society Museum is housed in the historic Paddock Mansion in downtown Watertown, New York. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, it was bequeathed to the Society by Edwin and Olive Paddock in 1922.
Founded in 1962, it is dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich history of Watertown and the surrounding area. It is the only historical society in the area and is run entirely by volunteers. The society maintains a library and archives, as well as a museum located in the city's historic E.B. Morgan Mansion.
