22 Αυγ 2015 · I have 1911s in .45 and .38 Super. I shoot the .38 Super better, because the recoil is softer, much like a 9mm, and follow up shots are easier. Cor Bon and Buffalo Bore have .38 Super loads that are significantly hotter than 9mm, but it isn't quite the equal of .357 Sig.

For comparison, 9mm has a 0.355 inch diameter bullet, while .38 Super has a 0.356 inch bullet (yes, even though the name is .38 Super).

Colt, Rock Island, EAA and Llama all offer pistols chambered in .38 Super, as do many custom 1911 builders (such as Les Baer).
