International Applicants. English Proficiency Requirements. To be considered for admission to Columbia, you must be comfortable with rapid and idiomatic spoken English. There are several different ways to demonstrate that you are proficient in English on your application: Your home language is English.

6 Ιουν 2008 · Under the terms of a Student visa one is required to pursue a full-time course of study during the academic year, September through May. For immigration purposes, Columbia University commonly defines full-time study as registration for 12 or more credits or one Residence Unit each semester.
The English proficiency requirement can be fulfilled through the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Applicants are strongly urged to make arrangements to take these examinations early in the fall.
Please note that Columbia is need-aware for international students and admits a large number of international students who apply for and receive a substantial amount of financial aid. Columbia is committed to covering the full demonstrated need of all applicants admitted as first-year students for all four years of study, regardless of citizenship.
