This is my revised "BASE" 2m/70cm Copper-Pipe "J", a "how-to DIY" with an optional method to make a " PORTABLE" dual-band "J" for hotel travelers, restricted apartment dwellers, or for limited balcony/patio use. See my previous "J Pole Antenna Stand" project here!

DualBand 2M/440MHz base antenna. The GP-9 is the highest gain, dualband fixed station antenna available from COMET. If you desire the absolute maximum coverage area, this is the antenna to choose. The radiation pattern is directed to the horizon omni-directionally around the antenna.
RE: The SIMPLE 2m Copper 'J' Antenna "J Pole " is incorrect. "J " antenna is the fundamental correct designation. The "J pole " was a flag plole with several "J" antennas on different bands, written in QST several years ago.

Problem 1: Parts. Red-Flagged Parts. Any plans with the following parts are not plans using “common” parts: 3/8”-24 fine-threaded rod. 3/8”-24 fine-threaded nuts. “CB Antenna” mounts – SO-239 to 3/8”-24 adapter. 300Ω TV twinlead. Didn’t even try to find TV twinlead or a CB mount locally – it’s 2021! I did try to find find-threaded rods locally:
Great dual band antenna! Time Owned: more than 12 months. The Comet GP-3 outperforms all the previous vertical antennas I have used in the past. It is only 20 ft. in the air I can access repeaters that I couldn't have accessed in the past.
28 Μαρ 2018 · I tested my antenna on the local N4NRV input frequencies for our two repeaters. With a 50 foot length of RG8, and the antenna 20 feet in the air, SWR was a respectable 1.13:1 for the 147.780 MHz input frequency, and 1.01:1 for the 449.650 MHz input frequency.
