4 Σεπ 2021 · To look at Ben Okri’s poetry in terms of commitment is even more complex, for poetry is often seen as eluding or avoiding commitment in the ideological sense of the term. Yet it is important to avoid confusing commitment with political commentary.
The essence of commitment, as defined by the relation to reality and otherness, may help us explore MacDiarmid’s poetry, and literary commitment in the 1930s. Along with these concepts, our study will make use of aesthetical, philosophical and psychoanalytical approaches.
