24 Ιαν 2023 · In this review, we describe population dynamics across the native and invasive ranges, identify putatively selected traits that may influence the starling’s spread, and suggest possible ...
24 Ιαν 2023 · Native to the Palearctic, the starling has been introduced to Australia, New Zealand (and the Pacific Islands), North America, South Africa, and South America (Table 1), and has been listed as one of the world’s 100 worst invasive alien species (Lowe et al. 2000).
24 Ιαν 2023 · The common starling, Sturnus vulgaris, is used, together with museum specimens sampled in the UK during the mid‐19th century, to identify parallel and divergent evolutionary change between contemporary native and invasive range samples and their common ancestral population.
Few invasive birds are as globally successful as the Common or European Starling (Sturnus vulgaris). Native to the Palearctic, the starling has been intentionally introduced to North and South America, South Africa, Australia, and the Pacific
1 Αυγ 2007 · Here we use the common starling, Sturnus vulgaris, to identify parallel and divergent evolutionary change between contemporary native and invasive range samples and their common ancestral...
The Common Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) is an invasive bird introduced in Argentina in the 1980’s that shares ocks with both native and exotic birds. Analyzing interspecic relationships and habitat use of introduced species is crucial to understand the invasion process and to alert for negative impacts on biodiversity.
Here, we use mtDNA to address questions relevant to the understanding of invasion pathways of common starlings (Sturnus vulgaris) into Western Australia (WA) and discuss the utility of this marker to provide information useful to invasive species management.
