Phishing is the fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to get individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers. To prevent phishing you have to be able to recognize it.
So at around 4pm today, I got an email titled "Your tax residency certification is required" from "Computershare Investor Services" (email is: communications@mailservice.computershare.com.au). It looked legit and it asked me to do the following:
If you receive any suspicious email message requesting account reactivation for online services such as Investor Centre, there are some steps you could take to protect yourself from online threats. · Phishing scams will require you to update your details by clicking on a link within the email.
