1 Ιουν 2016 · A combination of these dimensions results in five styles of handling an interpersonal conflict, namely, integrating style, avoiding style, dominating style, obliging style, and compromising style as presented in Fig. 1 (Rahim, 1983).
Usually, the two concerns define five different conflict behaviors: forcing, avoiding, accommodating, compromising, and problem solving or integrating. These behaviors are studied at the level of general personal conflict styles, closely connected to personality, as well as at the level of strategies and tactics (Euwema & Giebels, 2017 ).
This entry illustrates how scholars describe the nature of conflict avoidance and what research shows as to the effects of conflict avoidance on conflict resolution, individual well-being, and relationships.

The avoiding style, also known as suppression, indicates low concern for self and others. Therefore an avoiding person fails to satisfy personal concern as well as the concern of the other party.
