20 Ιαν 2023 · This collection contains images of maps charting the last 400 years of historical development in Illinois and the Northwest Territory. A collaborative effort between the University of Illinois Library, University of Illinois Press, and a selection of maps from the Newberry Library.
The state of Illinois collection contains 3,149 atlases spanning 311 years of growth and development (1696 through 2007). Within the atlases are 191,165 historical maps, illustrations, and histories many of which contain family names ideal for genealogical research.
All Platt Maps show all the land and number of acres and its owner, churches, locations for cemeteries, school, and more. Note, some of these are very hard to read (poor copying) and are being scanned over.
