6 Σεπ 2021 · Attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most commonly diagnosed behavioural disorders in children, with an estimated worldwide prevalence of 5.29% (Polanczyk et al. 2007). ADHD is known to be more common in boys than in girls, with an approximate diagnosis rate of 4.2% in boys and 1.8% in girls (Cuffe et al. 2005).
Women with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) have an increased risk of becoming teenage mothers. Adverse effects of hormonal contraception (HC), including depression, may affect adherence to user-dependent contraception and increase the risk for unplanned pregnancies and teenage births in women with ADHD.
At first intercourse, those with comprehensive sex education were more likely to have used any (aOR = 1.63; 95% CI: 1.18–2.25) and very effective (aOR = 1.35; 95% CI: 1.04–1.75) contraception. Comprehensive sex education was unrelated to current contraceptive use (aOR = 0.87; 95% CI: 0.63–1.21).
