NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) is an international military alliance consisting of 32 member states from Europe and North America. It was established at the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty on 4 April 1949. Of the 32 member countries, 30 are in Europe and two are in North America.

11 Μαρ 2024 · At present, NATO has 32 member countries. These countries, called NATO Allies, are sovereign states that come together through NATO to discuss political and security issues and make collective decisions by consensus.
As of April 2023, the NATO consists of 31 countries (29 from Europe and 2 from North America). The main aim of the organization is to ensure that the participating countries have the right to form an alliance in an attack against them.
As of mid-March 2024, 23 of the EU-27 member countries are members of NATO-32. Thus, most of the EU member states are now also members of NATO-32, including France. This explains why this map is placed here in the "EU" section.
