Cocaine Toxicity. Cocaine Toxicity potentially life-threatening sympathomimetic syndrome with sodium channel blockade. Cocaine base (crack cocaine) or free-base: created by combining cocaine hydrochloride with an alkaline substance, it is heat stable.
Patients with acute cocaine toxicity presenting to the emergency department may require urgent treatment for tachycardia, dysrhythmia, hypertension, and coronary vasospasm, leading to pathological sequelae such as acute coronary syndrome, stroke, and death.
