a. Therefore: Peter has just demonstrated the glory and eternal character of God’s word. Now therefore, in light of what God’s word is to us, we should receive the word and receive it with a particular heart. b. As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word: The word desire is strong.
1 Peter 2:8. and “A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.” They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.
What does 1 Peter 2:8 mean? In verse 8, Peter concludes a thought begun in the previous two verses. In this metaphor of building a house, Jesus is the key foundation stone or "cornerstone."
1 Peter 2:8. Οἱ προσκόπτουσι , τῷ λόγῷ ἀπειθοῦντες , who stumble, not believing the word ) In 1 Peter 2:7 , he expressed the different judgments of believers and unbelievers respecting Christ; now he sets forth the difference itself between believers and unbelievers.
