Basic Description. American Crows are familiar over much of the continent: large, intelligent, all-black birds with hoarse, cawing voices. They are common sights in treetops, fields, and roadsides, and in habitats ranging from open woods and empty beaches to town centers.
4 Οκτ 2023 · Appearance & Characteristics of the Crow. Most Crows (but not all), have a very recognisable jet-black plumage, beak, and legs. Their size varies across the different species, but on average, they tend to weigh between 11 to 21 ounces, have a body length around 17 inches and a wingspan that averages 30 inches.
Lives in a wide variety of semi-open habitats, from farming country and open fields to clearings in the woods. Often found on shores, especially in the Pacific Northwest, where the coastal population was formerly considered a separate species called “Northwestern Crow.”. Avoids hot desert zones.
