An orrery is a model of the solar system that shows the positions of the planets along their orbits around the Sun. The chart above shows the Sun at the centre, surrounded by the solar system's innermost planets. Click and drag the chart to rotate the viewing angle, or use your mouse wheel to zoom in and out.
The planets today shows you where the planets are now as a live display - a free online orrery. In this solar system map you can see the planetary positions from 3000 BCE to 3000 CE, and also see when each planet is in retrograde.
Sun-Earth Rotating Axes - display the heliocentric radial-tangential-normal (RTN) frame attached to the Earth. The R-axis is aligned with the Sun-Earth direction and the N-axis is normal to the ecliptic J2000 reference plane.
Accurate positions of small bodies can be obtained from our Horizons ephemeris system which uses a numerically integrated high fidelity model which includes gravitational perturbations by the Sun, all the planets, and some of the largest asteroids. The orbit viewer is limited to dates between 1600-01-01 and 2200-01-01. Orbit Paths
17 Μαρ 2020 · This simulated view of our solar system runs on real data. The positions of the planets, moons and spacecraft are shown where they are right now. Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech. NASA explores the unknown in air and space, innovates for the benefit of humanity, and inspires the world through discovery.
This tool shows approximate orbits of the planets and major planetary satellites. Optionally, one or more user-selected small body (asteroids and comets) orbit may also be shown. For help using this tool, select the Help item under the menu icon (below).
