The planets today shows you where the planets are now as a live display - a free online orrery. In this solar system map you can see the planetary positions from 3000 BCE to 3000 CE, and also see when each planet is in retrograde.
Accurate positions of small bodies can be obtained from our Horizons ephemeris system which uses a numerically integrated high fidelity model which includes gravitational perturbations by the Sun, all the planets, and some of the largest asteroids. The orbit viewer is limited to dates between 1600-01-01 and 2200-01-01. Orbit Paths
An orrery is a model of the solar system that shows the positions of the planets along their orbits around the Sun. The chart above shows the Sun at the centre, surrounded by the solar system's innermost planets.
This tool shows approximate orbits of the planets and major planetary satellites. Optionally, one or more user-selected small body (asteroids and comets) orbit may also be shown. For help using this tool, select the Help item under the menu icon (below).
You can view the entire Solar System, or just the inner planets (through the orbit of Mars). Controls allow you to set time and date, viewpoint, observing location, orbital elements to track an asteroid or comet, and a variety of other parameters.
