The attorney general of Kentucky is the chief legal officer of the U.S. state of Kentucky, created by the Kentucky Constitution (Ky.Const. § 91). Under Kentucky law, they serve several roles, including the state's chief prosecutor (KRS 15.700), the state's chief law enforcement officer (KRS 15.700), and the state's chief law officer (KRS 15.020).
Prior to joining the Office, Rob was in private practice with Dinsmore and Shohl in Lexington, representing clients in civil, criminal and administrative matters. From 2017-2021, Rob served as the 23rd Presidentially appointed United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky.
Duties. The attorney general is the chief law officer, chief law enforcement officer and legal adviser for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He provides legal counsel to state officials regarding their official duties on request and prepares legal instruments and documents for public use.
