Currents is a G Suite app that enables people to have meaningful discussions and interactions across your organization, helping keep everyone in the know and giving leaders the opportunity to connect with their employees.
Currents is something I've earmarked for review when it gets a general release. I understand it's more aligned with something like Yammer than Slack but it looks to offer quite a lot of Slack type features, specifically some that are vitally missing in Chat.
Currents is more targeted towards big corporations wanting to communicate with the entire company across the globe while chat is more geared towards smaller teams. They are meant to be complentary espacially if you are a big company.
