10 Δεκ 2012 · You should only lose about 3/4" of total barrel length when you cut off the bad threads and nasty looking recoil lug shoulder. That will also give you a really good shot at getting a chamber that is concentric to the bore when it's rechambered.
28 Οκτ 2018 · Here’s a picture of testing thread fit with the receiver: It’s important not to cut the threads too deep- you want a relatively close fit between the receiver threads and the barrel tenon threads! Now the counterbore can be cut.

25 Δεκ 2016 · The barrel interface in all the 700 actions presented is 1 1⁄16-inch with 16, 18, or 20 threads per inch. 16 TPI is the standard Remington thread pattern; 20 TPI is the Savage thread pitch. A 1 1⁄16-inch 20 TPI threaded action can use small shank Savage barrels.
