DAR Supported Schools Since 1903, the Society has been helping children in remote mountain areas receive an education. The DAR supports one school in the Appalachian region- Kate Duncan Smith DAR School, Alabama.
In 2024, Regina Lynch-Hudson became the first woman of color to join the Greenlee Chapter of the DAR in Old Fort, North Carolina, and the first black female descendent of Colonel John Carson to join the national society.

The North Carolina State Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NCSDAR) welcomes you! With over 105 chapters and over 7,000 members across the state, there is a chapter in every community willing to help eligible women become members.
Since 1903, the NSDAR has supported education in rural areas. Crossnore Communities for Children has been a DAR-approved school since our inception. The Daughters help raise awareness and financial support, as well as in-kind gift support, for the children and families we serve.
