The Day 2 test needs to be organized in advance, from one of the companies listed here: https://www.find-travel-test-provider.service.gov.uk/test-type. Some tests are done by you at home and mailed/couriered back to the lab; some tests are done at a clinic. The information (and prices) will be included in the info.
You have no choice, you have to book a day 2 test to come to the UK. It’s to be taken no later than day 2, so you can take it on day 0 or 1. When you book your test, you get a reference that you need to put on your PLF.
Different tests have different purposes, for instance, day 2 arrivals test will have a booking reference for the U.K. PLF form which a pre departure test would not have. Always best to have the test for your specific purposes.
