Deer hunting licence applications (S29 of the Wildlife Acts) for the 2024/2025 deer hunting season can now be made online by visiting: portal.heritage.gov.ie. PLEASE NOTE: When uploading your Firearms Certificate, you are required to upload both the front and back of the certificate.
The new eLicencing system will bring a range of benefits including: * Fully online, fast, efficient licencing process with no need to fill out and post documents. * Each hunter will have their own login and password. * Applicants will be able to track the status of their application through the portal.
First time applicants for Deer Hunting Licences must produce evidence of attendance and completion of a certified deer hunting training course. Three courses that have been approved by the National Parks & Wildlife Service as suitable are: Deer Alliance – Hunter Competence Assessment Programme (HCAP)
For the 2024-2025 season, you apply online to renew or apply for a deer hunting licence through the licensing portal. To get your licence in time for the new season, you must apply before the end of June.

The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) have confirmed applications for Deer Hunting Licences (DHL) for the 2021/2022 season, under Section 29 (1) of the Wildlife Act 1976 to 2018, are now available online via the NPWS website. The following documents can now be accessed:
