A Cartesian coordinate system in two dimensions (also called a rectangular coordinate system or an orthogonal coordinate system[8]) is defined by an ordered pair of perpendicular lines (axes), a single unit of length for both axes, and an orientation for each axis.
Two perpendicular lines are named as X-axis and Y-axis. The plane is called the Cartesian, or coordinate plane and the two lines X and Y when put together are called the coordinate axes of the system. The two coordinate axes divide the plane into four parts called quadrants. The intersection point of the axes is the zero of the Cartesian System.
28 Μαΐ 2024 · A coordinate plane is a mathematical, two-dimensional plane formed by two number lines. A horizontal number line and a vertical number line intersect to form two axes (plural for axis), and a grid system comprised of four quadrants.
30 Ιουν 2024 · The two coordinate axes x-axis and y-axis in coordinate geometry divide the plane into four parts. These four parts are called as quadrants.
27 Σεπ 2020 · The horizontal axis in the coordinate plane is called the x-axis. The vertical axis is called the y-axis. The point at which the two axes intersect is called the origin. The origin is at 0 on the x- axis and 0 on the y- axis. Locations on the coordinate plane are described as ordered pairs.
Axis: The reference line from which distances are measured. The plural of Axis is Axes, and is pronounced ax-eez. Example: Point (6,4) is. 6 units across (in the x direction), and. 4 units up (in the y direction) So (6,4) means:
A coordinate plane is a two-dimensional plane formed by the intersection of a vertical line called the y-axis and a horizontal line called the x-axis. These are perpendicular lines that intersect each other at zero, and this point is called the origin.
