8 Σεπ 2024 · Using an X, Y or Z code in a CNC program tells the machine to go to a specific location along those axes. Location changes can be in one or more axes. If only a Z axis coordinate is given then the machine will only move in the Z axis. This is the same for the other axes as well.
The three directions in the Cartesian coordinate system are specified as the axes X, Y, and Z. The axes are mutually perpendicular and intersect at one point: the datum (origin). An absolute coordinate designates the distance to the datum along a single axis.
Z-axis stages, also known as vertical stages, provide motion along the z-axis. When a vertical stage is added to a typical linear stage, which provides motion along the x- and y-axes, the resulting positioning system is capable of three-dimensional motion.
