16 Ιουλ 2024 · First, a 4th axis machine can move in linear directions such as X axis, Y axis, and Z axis. But it also has a rotary axis, usually designated as the A axis or B axis. Most manual machining 4th axis work is about cutting features along an arc, something that’s hard to do with a manual machine.
The G-code commands instruct the machine where to move, how fast to move and what path to follow. In case of a machine tool such as lathe or mill, the cutting tool is driven by these commands to follow a specific toolpath, cutting away material in order to get the desired shape.
Define the machining process for the various workpiece geometries using the appropriate strategies. First of all, roughing strategies are applied, e.g. roughing in the Z plane or equidis-tant from the surface geometry. CAM systems offer various options from 2 1/2-axis to 5-axis machining.
