The xyz coordinate axis system, denoted 3, is represented by three real number lines meeting at a common point, called the origin. The three number lines are called the x-axis, the y-axis, and the z-axis. Together, the three axes are called the coordinate axes.
The positive x-axis, positive y-axis, and positive z-axis are the sides labeled by x, y and z. The origin is the intersection of all the axes. The branch of each axis on the opposite side of the origin (the unlabeled side) is the negative part.
10 Νοε 2020 · The Euclidean plane has two perpendicular \(\textbf{coordinate axes}\): the \(x\)-axis and the \(y\)-axis. In vector (or multivariable) calculus, we will deal with functions of two or three variables (usually \(x, y\) or \(x, y, z\), respectively).
Z points “up” The graphic illustrates one example of a topocentric frame. There is nota standard definition–for example, the z-axis could point down, the x-axis North, and the y-axis East. • *SPICE tools always have the “up” or “down” axis being normal to the spheroid. But one could use external data to determine the local gravity
As the operator faces the machine, the X-Axis moves the table left-right. The Y-Axis moves the table forward-backward. The machine column grips and spins the tool. The column controls the Z-axis and moves up-down. Figure 1. VMC Machine Motion. CNC Machine Coordinates. The CNC Machine Coordinate System is illustrated in Figure 11.
Fixing the x,y or z-coordinate axis determines a coordinate system in space. The choice of the convenient coordinate system depends on the situation. On earth for example the coordinate system is chosen so that the z-axis points ”up”, perpendicular to the ground. But these directions depend on the position on earth of course. EXAMPLE.
The XYZ axis system –– everything starts here! Including an axis system in a 3D sketch gives the viewer an orientation and a perspective for the location of an object. Draw a vertical line segment. Sketch 2 other line segments making 120o angles with the vertical segment. The 30–60–90o triangle is useful here (Fig. 2).
