Geometrical optics, studied in the first year, ignored the wave nature of light and so, in this course, we focus particularly on Physical Optics where the primary characteristic of waves viz. interference , is the dominant theme.
9 Σεπ 2015 · Covers the effect of mixing color, the notion of color spaces, how atoms and molecules affect light, how light can be measured, the effect of using a lens, and many other topics. Requires little...
The Rise of the Wave Theory of Light: Optical Theory and Experiment in the Early Nineteenth Century. J. Buchwald, N. Nersessian. Published 1 April 1991. Physics, History.
14 Δεκ 2016 · The modern quantum perspective on this debate is that light is neither wave nor particle, but an elusive, intermediate entity that obeys the superposition principle. The quintessential experiment that demonstrates wave-particle duality is the Young’s two-slit interference experiment.

This book describes the history of scientific discoveries about light as well as my personal journey in science. It evokes my early research activity, at the time when lasers were in their infancy (in the 1960’s). It also describes my research in the last thirty years on the manipulation of simple quantum systems
The author, writing for an audience of both students and other scientifically interested readers, describes fundamental investigations of the nature of light and ongoing methods to measure its speed as well as the emergence of the wave theory of light and the complementary photon theory.
