Creative nonfiction is an umbrella term for a genre that includes, among other sub genres, literary memoir, personal essays, personal letters, travel writing, nature writing, narrative journalism, cultural criticism and hybrid forms that blend prose, poetry and essay.
Non-fiction is virtually everything that we read as literature but that does not come under the categories of novel, short story, play or poem. Non-fiction, then, is writing that is factually true.
