Ephesians 6:13 tells us to “take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.” This verse is followed by descriptions of various pieces of armor that God has given the Christian. But what is this armor, and how do we make us of it?
The everlasting arms are there; and that means, first of all, that God himself is close to us, guaranteeing the eternal safety of all those who trust in him. Of course, where anyone’s arms are, there he is, and God is not divided from his own arms. This is our joy and comfort, that God is with us.
13 Δεκ 2017 · In the Bible, the “arm of the Lord” is a vivid image of God’s saving power. But is it more than that? In Isaiah 59:16 and 63:5, the prophet tells how God will save his people by his own arm. In context, this builds on an important theme in Isaiah 40–66. But it also amplifies the promise of the messiah.
The armor of God, found in Ephesians 6:10-18, is made up of the following six items: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit.
23 Οκτ 2024 · Neglecting to wear the Armor of God leaves individuals exposed in a spiritual battlefield. Without protection, one becomes vulnerable to deceit and manipulation. Satan thrives on weakness. When we forgo our armor, he can easily infiltrate our thoughts and emotions, leading us astray. Doubts creep in; fear takes hold.
But here the picture is of God “rolling up his sleeves” as it were, baring his arm, to come down and help his people. And how does God roll up his sleeves and get involved? By taking frail flesh and being born as a man.
God the Father is an invisible spirit and has no physical body. Yet the Bible refers to Him as having physical characteristics that theologians call Anthropormorphisms. Even though He has no body, Scripture does speak of God’s eyes, ears, nose, arms, etc.
