9 Ιαν 2019 · New generations of established sensors, such as metal oxides, are being pushed to new limits by employing nanostructured materials. One of the promises of chemical sensors is that they can be widely deployed to provide comprehensive spatial and temporal analysis of a particular problem.
The article gives an overview on the contemporary state of knowledge concerning all kinds of chemical sensors. Based on the official IUPAC definitions, their most important groups are considered in more detail. Special attention is given optical, electrochemical, electrical, mass-sensitive, magnetic and thermometric sensors.
