The Delaware State Flower is the peach blossom. The peach tree is the state's official flower. It was officially designated as the state flower in 1931 by legislation introduced by Senator John Martin Du Pont of New Castle County and popularly approved on March 11, 1932.
Delaware designated the peach blossom as the official state flower symbol in 1895 because of Delaware's reputation as "The Peach State" (at that time, Delaware orchards contained more than 800,000 peach trees).
