28 Μαΐ 2024 · Delhi Sultanate. An Islamic dynasty with its capital in Delhi, the Delhi Sultanate ruled over a sizable portion of the Indian peninsula for 320 years. (1206–1526). The Delhi Sultanate was governed by five dynasties in succession: the Mamluk (1206–1290), Khalji (1290–1320), Tughlaq (1320–1414), Sayyid (1414–1451), and Lodi (1290–1451).
Following his death, the Delhi Sultanate saw a succession of weak rulers, disputing Muslim nobility, assassinations, short-lived tenures. Power shifted from Rukn ud-Din Firuz to Razia Sultana and others, until Ghiyas ud-Din Balban came to power and ruled from 1266 to 1287.
