The Dennison Railroad Depot Museum is the most significant remaining example in the nation of a railroad canteen still reflecting its WWII heritage.
Recognized as a National Historic Landmark, this restored 1873 Pennsylvania Railroad depot is the best example of a WW2 Canteen left in the county. During WWII, 1.3 Million service members were served free food by 4000 working volunteers at the Dennison Depot Salvation Army Servicemen’s Canteen.

The Dennison Depot, built in 1873 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, stands as a proud symbol of Dennison’s vast railroad heritage. Purchased by the Village of Dennison from Conrail in 1984, the Depot was originally restored by a strong grassroots volunteer group and local vocational school students.
The Depot is fully restored and now houses a museum, restaurant, Panhandle Theater and Whistle Stop Railway Gift Shop. Visitors can explore the museum’s Railroad History and Sports exhibits, then watch the trains run in the large Model Train Layout depicting Dennison in its heyday.
Housed inside the old depot, this museum is a must for train lovers - young and old alike. They have a lot of hands on activities for the kids that make it not just educational but fun. The displays are top notch.
