Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene: With this bachelor’s degree, you will be well-equipped to kickstart your career as an entry-level dental hygienist. You must complete 76 credits in dental hygiene and 12 in general education courses.
All students will complete 26 units of required core course work, plus four additional units of elective studies in an area of emphasis, which support their interests and future career plans. Emphasis areas include education, geriatric dentistry and pediatric dentistry.
The West Los Angeles College Dental Hygiene Program offers two pathways to a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene Degree. The Entry-Level Bachelor of Science Degree Program offers a CODA-approved curriculum and is a full-time, 21-month program (four semesters, two winter and two summer intersessions).
To earn an Associate in Science in Dental Hygiene, students must complete: (1) all course requirements with a minimum grade of “C” in each course; and (2) complete General Education Graduation Requirements with an overall GPA of 2.0 or better.
