Description. It is an annual grass with an inflorescence of up to nine very long, very thin, radiating branches atop its stems. Each branch is lined with pairs of very tiny spikelets. The inflorescences may be reddish or purplish.

28 Οκτ 2022 · Digitaria sanguinalis, commonly known as large crabgrass, is a widespread agricultural weed which has been reported from more than 100 countries. It is one of the most troublesome annual weeds in lawns and in many vegetable and grain crops.
Digitaria sanguinalis. First published in Fl. Carniol., ed. 2, 1: 52 (1771) This species is accepted. The native range of this species is Medit. to Central Asia and Malesia. It is an annual and grows primarily in the temperate biome. It is used as animal food and a medicine and for food. Taxonomy.
General Information. Annual; culms 20.60 cm high or sometimes more, decumbent at the base, geniculately ascending. Leaf-blades broadly linear to narrowly lanceolate, 3-30 cm long, 3-17 mm wide.
It develops several branching stems at the base with the lower branches tending to sprawl across the ground, while their upper branches are more erect. It prefers full sun to part sun in moist to dry clay loams but is very adaptable to poor soils. It has spread to nearly every state in the country.
