Dil Se Movie. Opinion. Growing up, Dil Se used to be one my favorite movies. I used to dream about someone loving me like Amar loves Meghna. I recently caught the movie on Netflix and I couldn't get over how horribly the movie had aged. Amar stalks Meghna!
Understated nuanced acting, not valued by most Indian actors, is the norm in this movie. The images are haunting, the sensibilities are delicate and the scenery breathtaking. If you plan to see only one Hindi film that you plan to see, this should be it.
Dil se is my favorite movie and it has so many layers that it needs repeated viewing to unpack it. It is a masterpiece by the auteur director Maniratnam and it part of a wider terrorism trilogy. (Roja, Bombay, Dil Se).
