Spans are based on minimum design properties for No. 2 grade lumber of Douglas fir-larch, hem-fir, Southern pine, and spruce-pine-fir. c. Building width is measured perpendicular to the ridge. For widths between those shown, spans are permitted to be interpolated.
SFPA provides size selection tables for various beam spans and loading combinations for Southern Pine dimension lumber and glulam.
EXAMPLE. Determine the minimum size and bearing support requirements for a #2 Douglas fi r-larch header in an exterior bearing wall as shown in Figure 6-21. Th e width of the building is 28 feet, the header span is 7 feet, and the snow load is 30 psf. Refer to Table 6-5 and Figure 6-21. TABLE 6-5 Girder spans and header spans for exterior ...
Selected lumber design values and span tables for these species groups are provided in this publication. Comprehensive information for Western species lum-ber products (Douglas Fir-Larch, Douglas Fir South, Hem-Fir, Spruce-Pine-Fir South, Western Cedars and Western Woods) can be found at www.wwpa.org.
Girders & Headers Building Codes with Span Tables. Span charts and 2012 IRC building codes for girders and headers. Includes span tables for all load bearing locations and the number of jack studs. These charts are for 30 pound per square foot snow load on the roof.
9 Ιαν 2019 · Engineered-lumber manufacturers provide header span tables that are similar to the ones listed in the IRC, making it easy to size a header for an opening. I’ve used engineered lumber for single-ply headers and for rim-board headers following the same measures outlined in the code for these header options.
Southern Forest Products Association Span Tables. Span tables for visual and mechanical grades of southern pine lumber joists and rafters, and southern pine lumber and glue-laminated timber (glulam) headers, beams and girders. View SPC Span Tables.
