Again, I’ve put a quick guide together with some examples to help you decide on the perfect spacing for your floating shelves.
A floating shelf can hold 45–50 lbs for every wall stud that your floating shelf bracket is attached to. The more detailed answer depends on a number of factors, including 1) where and how the shelf is installed, 2) the quality & design of the shelf and bracket, and 3) the dimensions (length x depth) of the floating shelf.
21 Σεπ 2023 · In general terms though – as a rule of thumb – most people tend towards hanging floating kitchen shelving between 18-24 inches above countertops and work surfaces; this allows enough clearance below while still keeping frequently used items within arm’s reach.
In the kitchen, a distance between shelves of 15 to 21 inches or 38 to 53 centimeters is usual. For the bathroom, 10 to 12 inches or 25 to 30 centimeters will suffice. The living room has differing spacing, and the tallest item to be put on the shelves is the basis for deciding the spacing.
When it comes to spacing kitchen floating shelves, the most important rule is to make sure they’re installed securely and properly. That being said, the general rule of thumb for floating shelves is to leave at least 6” of space between each shelf for optimal stability.
