Calculation Formula. The formula for converting DMS to decimal degrees is: \[ \text{Decimal Degrees} = \text{Degrees} + \frac{\text{Minutes}}{60} + \frac{\text{Seconds}}{3600} \] Example Calculation. For example, to convert 30° 15' 50" to decimal degrees: \[ \text{Decimal Degrees} = 30 + \frac{15}{60} + \frac{50}{3600} \approx 30.263889 \]
This will convert your degree notation into a decimal degree or vice versa. When converting to decimal don't bother about ° sign or any other. Just separate the degrees from minutes and seconds with a space like this: 30 0 19, which will mean 30° 0' 19".
