In most of the cities it traverses in Kentucky, it is still referred to as "Dixie Highway" or "Dixie Avenue". The western route generally follows the present-day route of US 150, Indiana SR 37, and Indiana SR 67 from Louisville to Indianapolis.
The Western Division runs from Mackinaw City along Lake Michigan to the Indiana state line near South Bend. The Eastern Division runs from Mackinaw City along Lake Huron and through Detroit to the Ohio state line near Toledo.

Today, virtually all the Old Dixie Highway has been renamed or rerouted. Much of the Eastern route and all the Carolina route became U.S. Highway 25. 7 Ιουν 2012 · The Dixie neatly crossed Indiana, entering from the north at South Bend and from the west near Covington, converging at Indianapolis, and then exiting to the east at Richmond and to the south at New Albany. Indiana folded all of the Dixie into its state highway network in the 1920s.
26 Φεβ 2019 · The second was called the “Hoosier Dixie Highway (HDH).” That is the subject of this entry. The HDH connected the Lincoln Highway at Goshen to the Dixie Highway at Cincinnati. There are big sections of this old road that would make it, albeit not permanently, into the state highway system.
17 Απρ 2020 · The Dixie Highway was a multi-route major Auto Trail, connecting the north to Florida. Due to this, the Dixie Highway started having a lot of “daughter” roads, although they were never officially related to the original road.
